About the Daily Liberal

The Daily Liberal is dedicated to analysis and commentary on politics, news, and current events. This is not a news site, and I’m not a reporter; there are people far better at bringing you the news than I am. Instead, I aim to provide smart, in-depth commentary on politics and policy-making. From time to time, I publish original research to provide a clearer look at the issues and campaigns I’m discussing.

I make no claims that the content on my site is objective. My goal is to help liberals fight back against right-wing talking points, and to hopefully help conservatives understand the liberal point of view more clearly. If you’re looking for an unbiased explanation of the issues, I like the Christian Science Monitor.

I may be biased, but I do promise intelligent commentary that doesn’t toe the party line. I’m not afraid to challenge conventional liberal thinking, call out Democratic policymakers for their votes, or tell you when the conservatives have won. I will always try to provide the most thoughtful analysis of today’s news.

About the Author

The Daily Liberal is written by Jeff Rosenberg. I was raised in Westchester, NY, and have spent the last six years living in Minneapolis, MN. I grew up listening to conservative talk-radio hosts like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, and yelling at my radio. As a result, I’ve developed a pretty strong partisan streak.

I’m also a bit of a policy wonk. I received a Masters degree from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, and I spent a lot of time talking about the issues while I was there. I love discussing and researching the issues, and good policy-making is really important to me. Elections are important, but I prefer covering the policies our elected officials develop every day in Congress and our Executive Agencies.

Why I’m a Liberal

I’m a product of public schools and public universities. They made me who I am today, and I couldn’t have had the opportunities they created if the generations before me had not sacrificed for the good of their children and grandchildren. I’ve seen what can happen when we work for the common good. I believe I owe a debt to our country and its citizens for the lifestyle I’m able to live, and I believe we have a responsibility to leave our children better off than we are.
